Bentley GeoSolutions now offers the production of AGS data in the field with its recently acquired rugged PDA. Preliminary field logs can be instantly created for most geotechnical site activities, compatible with all major SI data management systems such as HoleBASE & gINT. Our Trimble Nomad rugged PDA is MIL-STD-810F and IP67 compliant and comes with inbuilt GPS, Bluetooth and WLAN meaning on site data acquisition in the harshest site conditions is now achievable.

image of Ben Bentley B. R. Bentley BSc.(Hons) FGS is an independent Geotechnical Engineer with over 9 years industry experience in various fields worldwide. Comfortable and experienced travelling and working in different countries and sometimes extreme working environments. He has been contracted as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, Engineering Geologist, Site Agent & Assistant Drilling Superintendant on various projects throughout the world.

He has a diverse range of experience in the UK, West Africa and the Caribbean with the ground investigation and mining sectors, having worked extensively with most types 'of investigation techniques & testing techniques, drilling & exploration rigs. He has contracted on various projects including exploration drilling (Iron Ore & Bauxite), offshore drilling schemes, geotechnical inspections of highways, pilling and grouting supervision, mine workings projects, nuclear contracts (live sites, decommissioning and storage), contaminated land studies, remediation SI's, platform working, pipeline schemes, utility works, landfill inspections, deep chalk drilling, highways works, rail improvement schemes, various civil engineering surveys and SI's for residential, commercial and industrial developments. He also has a great deal of experience in difficult access contracts; including projects in Karst topography, marsh, jungle & savannah environments, platform working, crane lifts and night works.

He is a Fellow of The Geological Society of London and holds current CSCS Health & Safety Manager (Construction) and CSCS Site Manager (Civil Engineering) cards. He is a HSE approved First Aider (EFAW), CAT & Genny certified and is committed to CPD, currently holding membership of the following organisations:

  • The British Geotechnical Association

  • International Society for Rock Mechanics

  • International Association for Engineering Geology

  • International Society for Soil Mechanics & Geotechnical Engineering.


He also holds a full clean UK and international driving license and has undergone defensive driving and off road 4x4 driver training.
